APGA Tour Championship: A Celebration of Diversity and Excellence in Golf

GOLF

The APGA Tour, committed to promoting greater diversity within the sport of golf, is set to feature 48 top professional golfers from diverse backgrounds at the prestigious Mastercard APGA Tour Championship. This highly anticipated event will be held from August 12-13 at TPC Sugarloaf in Duluth, Georgia, with players competing for a remarkable $155,000 purse. The championship and GKLive.TV’s commitment to underserved sports serves as a testament to the APGA's dedication to fostering talent and supporting underrepresented golfers with aspirations of greatness.

The Countdown is On! We are excited to bring you the APGA Tour’s first live-streamed tournament.

Keith Houlemard, CEO of the APGA, emphasized the significance of this event, stating, "This year’s tour championship will showcase the depth and talent of players advancing their skills through the APGA. The event will highlight the importance of offering formative opportunities for diverse golfers to excel professionally." The return to TPC Sugarloaf, thanks to the ongoing partnership with the PGA TOUR, underscores the collaboration's strength and Mastercard's unwavering support in promoting diversity in golf.

A highlight of the tournament will be the conclusion of the Cisco Cup Series. The top player will be awarded a $100,000 share from the $150,000 bonus pool prize money. Moreover, the standout performer in the APGA Player Development Program, determined by the Cisco Cup Standings, will receive the prestigious Mastercard APGA Player Achievement Award, which includes a $50,000 stipend and additional career-advancing benefits.

Golf enthusiasts can look forward to live-streamed coverage of both tournament rounds, thanks to GKLive.TV. The final three holes of each round will be showcased live on GKLive.TV, offering viewers an exhilarating glimpse of the competition on August 12th and 13th.

Since 2021, Mastercard has been a key partner of the Advocates Professional Golf Association (APGA) Tour, serving as the title partner for the season’s culminating event. The partnership, founded on the belief that greater diversity will have a long-lasting impact on the game, has enhanced the APGA Tour player experience significantly. Mastercard's contributions include providing the highest purse and first-place prize in APGA Tour history in 2022 and 2023, ensuring all players receive a share of the purse, and offering mentorship and skills-training sessions beneficial both on and off the golf course.

Earlier this year, Cisco and the APGA Tour expanded their partnership, with Cisco becoming the Presenting Partner of the APGA Tour. Cisco's increased financial investment has more than tripled the total purse for the season-long performance race. Additionally, Cisco introduced a new virtual networking series, connecting players with top business executives, industry partners, professional athletes, and others to provide insights, advice, and relationship-building opportunities to further their careers.

A spokesperson from Cisco highlighted their commitment, stating, "Cisco remains dedicated to ongoing investment in the game of golf, and our support of the APGA Tour is part of our commitment to creating more opportunities for people from diverse backgrounds to engage with the game while powering an inclusive future for all. As we celebrate the culmination of the inaugural Cisco Cup Series with the APGA Tour, we look forward to the promise of what’s to come for the incredible professional players who have made many strides in the game this year."

In addition to the championship, APGA Tour players will participate in a youth golf clinic sponsored by Farmers Insurance®. The APGA Foundation Youth Clinic, a longstanding component of APGA Tour events, aims to increase diversity in golf by engaging and inspiring young people from underserved communities. The clinic will provide an opportunity for local youth to learn about golf career pathways and receive guidance from professional players.

GolfKast is thrilled to bring this exciting event to fans, highlighting the incredible talent and inspiring stories of the APGA Tour players.
